Just finally watched this episode.

Yes Ana made a mistake. I don't want to say it was an implausible mistake, but it had me scrunching my face a little. Ana exudes cop. FBI. She's an interrogator, calm yet active in emergency, constantly doing something, relentlessly suspicious, a leader by a certain degree of force (contrast to Jack's leadership by skill, caring and charisma). She sees details, and knows knives. She knows how to fight and how to use a gun. She shoots Shannon "center mass." Cops make mistakes, too, in pressure situations, in gun fights. It just seemed like a pretty quick shot.

I think she deserves to be suspended for a few days pending an investigation.

She's obviously losing it a little. Her comments to Michael turn out to be totally unjustifiable, particularly "They took a lot of things." Ana has not lost her child to the others. She has no appreciation of Michael's loss. She misjudged them, treated them badly, failed to recognize even when told that they had also suffered, and then felt it appropriate to tell Michael to shut his mouth. I feel her character is a little inconsistent, although I recognize they are trying to show that she is under a lot of stress. I am a little surprised that the others follow her. Part of why Jack is successful is becuase even the other potential leaders follow him, I think due to his personality. Its hard to see why they tolerate Ana's leadership. Fear of the others? They need her against the others? Perhaps.

Anyways, this is two weeks now with nary a glimpse of Evangeline Lily. I'm not sure that's the best use of their time.

But I did enjoy it. This show always does a great job of changing your perception. They bring you to a place you've alredy been, but make you see it very differently. I really didn't see how they would make Ana sympathetic after making her so unsympathetic the episode before. But these folks do a pretty good job.
