GPW had an entirely different feel that first week than it did the rest of the year. They had the tape with the old GPW music from the Rick Martel/Bad News Brown commerical (I was heartbroken when they didn`t bring that back the next week!)
It was also the only show that they had Dynamite Dave do announcing. Emile was probably too cheap to pay anyone with a nickname.

>1) Tommy Valentine vs Bobby Rude (** 1/4)
Did Tommy Valentine pop up in RAW after this? (Or maybe it was BEFORE this). Was he Tommy Twilight?
Interesting to look at the "vanilla face" Bobby Rude at the time and look what he has become.

>2) Stan Neilson vs Rene Dupre (* 1/2)
Neilson was such an old school heel in this match, using the Luger-like stalling tactics. On the other hand, he was a totally different heel from what we`ve seen before- acting all bizarre.
It looked like he sucked as a worker, but he evolved into one of the most entertaining guys in GPW that year. I would love to see RAW pick him up now.

>3) Big Al vs Todd the Bodd (**)
Big Al. UGH!
Todd was GPW`s most underrated workers. In discussions about who RAW should raid from GPW, his name doesn`t come up enough. He never really proved that much outside the rink, but I loved his in ring work.
To be honest though, his Big Al matches were NOT ** quality, in my opinion. Not Todd`s fault though!

>4) Wildman vs Chi Chi Cruz (** 3/4)
**3/4 is actually pretty disappointing for those two in the ring against each other. I can`t really say I remember a lot about that match though.

Little did we know what an entertaining mini-run that Cuban would have for a while. Too bad Richie (Cuban 2) wasn`t along for the ride, I would have liked to have seen how he progressed as a worker. He was decent for a young guy!
