WILLPOWER PART 3: NEVER TOO LATE

We see Sunnydale High. The clock in the hallway shows nine o'clock. Dawn is walking through the hallway alone.
She moves in quite a hurry and practically runs through the, almost empty, hallway.
When she's almost at the end of the hallway, she steps on a piece of paper, and barely manages to stay on her feet.
In a hurry, she moves to one of the doors at the end of the hallway and steps inside.
TEACHER
So... mrs. Summers... care to tell us why you are late... again?
DAWN
Well, my dog died.
TEACHER
Seems you have quite the zoo at home. Yesterday, it was your hamster. Last week
it was your cat.... Just take a seat
Dawn walks to an empty seat. After a few minutes, when the teacher is in the middle of explaining
something, the guy turns his face toward Dawn.
MITCH *whispers*
Hey Dawn.
DAWN *whispers*
Hi Mitch
MITCH *whispers*
Here, take this and memorize it
He hands Dawn a piece of paper.
Dawn looks at it and reads, 'my pet died', 'stuck in traffic', 'medical emergency'...
There is a lot more on the piece of paper, but Dawn stops reading and looks back at Mitch.
MITCH *whispers*
That's a list of excuses you might want to remember
DAWN *whispers*
Look, mine's on top
MITCH *whispers*
The point is to switch between them. After you use an excuse, it's no good for about two weeks
DAWN *whispers*
I see
Dawn continues reading for a while and the looks at Mitch again
DAWN *whispers*
There must be over 50 excuses, that must have cost you quite a while to make
MITCH *whispers*
I speak from years of experience
Dawn reads the last three lines 'my alarmclock is broken', 'bathroom emergency', 'will you go out with me?'
Dawn reads the last line a second time, thinking she just misread. Her face turns to a smile and she looks
at Mitch again.
DAWN *whispers*
I'd love to
MITCH *whispers*
See you after class?
DAWN
Okay
Suddenly it becomes very silent. Dawn looks forward and sees the teacher staring at her.
TEACHER
Is there something important going on?
DAWN
Bathroom emergency?
TEACHER
Make it quick
After the teacher turns his back to Dawn, she turns to Mitch
DAWN *silent*

Dawn comes home from school. Willow is sitting behind the computer, probably doing her homework or something.
Other than Willow, nobody is home.
WILLOW
Hi Dawnie
DAWN *smiling widely*
Hi
WILLOW *smiles too*
Okay, what's going on here? Are you drunk?
DAWN
No... got a date
WILLOW
You do? When?
DAWN
Tonight.
WILLOW
Who's the lucky guy... or.. girl?
DAWN
It's a guy and his name is Mitch. He's in my biology class and he's really nice.
WILLOW
Well.. at least we know he's not a vampire, with the not-bursting-into-flames and all.
What's the plan?
DAWN
Movie at 9
WILLOW
Way to go Dawnie.... so I guess that whole magic session tonight is off?
DAWN
Well, kinda... You know, it's not like I don't want to....
WILLOW
Don't worry Dawn. Maybe it's not such a bad thing to take things slow. There's no hurry.
Besides, making new friends is always a good thing.

We're in an office. The windows are blinded and the room is dimly lit.
The camera focussed from behind a desk, so that you can't see who is behind it.
Three men sit opposed to the desk.
????
Welcome friends. You are probably wondering about the mission
The one behind the desk sounds male, with a dark and low voice. The voice doesn't sound familiar.
The three men, who appear to be human, look at each other.
The man behind the desk hands a file to the guy on the left and the guy in the middle.
The file given to the guy on the left is labeled "Jim", the file given to the guy on the right is
labeled "Mark".
????
Your missions are in there. Now leave
JIM
And our money?
????
The mission, mr Black. Complete the mission and you will be paid
Jim and Mark stand up and walk out. The third guy stands up.
????
Please sit down Patrick.
Patrick sits down again.
PATRICK
What's my mission?
The man behind the desk gives Patrick a file and an envelope. The file is labeled "Jim"
????
Yours are simple. See to it that the target finds out.
PATRICK
So, you want me to fill in the target that she got a mercenary out to kill her?

PATRICK
Oh well, it's your call. Consider it done.

Good. You'll find your payment in the envelope. Don't dissapoint me.

It's night and Dawn, Willow and Xander enter Xander's appartment.
XANDER
It's about time you guys...girls came here
DAWN
This is a nice place. Why don't we hang around here more often?
Andrew steps out of the shower in a bathrobe and turns on a CD. The theme song from Star Wars echos loudly through
the house.
XANDER
Does that answer your question? It's not like I hate the guy. It's just...
DAWN
Why is he here Xander?
XANDER
He needed a place to stay. I wanted....I figured the appartment was big enough for the two of us.
DAWN
And, is it?
XANDER
Most of the time. But there's a limit to the amount of Star Wars I can take.
Dawn and Willow smile. But something in Willow's expression says that she knows more.
Dawn quickly gets annoyed with the Star Wars music and she walks off to Andrew and turns off the music
The two begin to argue.
XANDER *to himself*
Thank you Dawn!
WILLOW
Are you okay Xand?
XANDER
Yeah, I'm fine.
Willow looks directly at Xander; eyes wide open and eyebrows up
XANDER
I'm fine.... really..... ok, stop that!
XANDER
It's hard. Having someone around makes it a little easier.....
Andrew, while in an argument with Dawn turns the music back on and cranks up the volume.
We see Dawn and Andrew arguing in the background but we can't hear anything they say with the loud music.
XANDER
...even if is it's Andrew!

The scene shows Jim at the front door of the Summers' residence. It's dark inside and it's clear that nobody's home.
Jim tries to open te front door but it's locked.
JIM *whispers to himself*
It was worth a shot.
he grabs something out of his coat and starts picking the lock with it. Within five seconds, the front door is open.
Jim opens the front door and walks inside, closing the front door behind him.

At Xander's place, Dawn's cellphone.
DAWN
That's weird. Noone has this number.
WILLOW
Maybe it's Kennedy
Dawn answeres the phone. After a few seconds she hands the phone to Willow
DAWN
Someone who wants to talk to you.
Willow takes the phone.
WILLOW
Who is this?
PATRICK
There is an assassin in your house.
WILLOW
What? Why?
PATRICK
Isn't it obvious?
WILLOW
Who is he supposed to kill?
PATRICK
You
Patrick then hangs up the phone. Willow is silent for a minute, trying to figure this all out.
XANDER
What's with the serious look Will?
WILLOW
We've got problems

At the Summers' house, we now see Willow walking to the front door of the house.
Willow opens the front door and as soon as she steps in, a knife pierces the side of her head.
Willow then fades into nothing. Willow stands behind him.
WILLOW
I used the backdoor. I hope you don't mind.
Jim is very much surprised to see Willow standing behind him.
JIM
I just killed you!
WILLOW
No you didn't. it was just an illusion. Now, who are you working for?
Jim turns to the door to see Kennedy standing there.
KENNEDY
Who's that?
WILLOW *to Kennedy*
Someone out to kill me....
WILLOW *to Jim*
I didn't catch your name
JIM
I didn't throw it.
With that, he pulls another knife out of his vest and attempts to lunge it at Willow.
Kennedy quickly grabs the back of the guys arms and pushes him inside the room.
Jim looks around him, trying to find a way out of this mess.
KENNEDY
Oh look, the big bad.
WILLOW
Why do you want to kill me? Who are you working for? Are you alone?
JIM
.....
WILLOW
I got other ways to get in information I want you know. I can just search
your brain for it.
JIM
You don't understand. I'm a dead man if I talk.
KENNEDY
Well, you're a dead man if you don't talk so you're screwed.
With that, Jim grabs the knife and holds the tip to his chest.
JIM
I'm sorry. Sorry about the girl...
After that, with a sudden movement, he throws the knife towards Willow who manages to evade it.
But that time is enough for Jim to jump through the window and run into the night.
KENNEDY
Not the window again!
WILLOW
Did he just say, sorry about the girl?
KENNEDY
You don't think that....

Willow and Kennedy arrive at Xander's place to find Xander and Andrew lying on the floor, unconcious.
Willow checks Xander's pulse and Kennedy checks Andrew's.
WILLOW
Xander's still alive
KENNEDY
So's Andrew
WILLOW
Dawn!
When no reply comes and they don't see Dawn anywhere, Willow panicks.
WILLOW
They got Dawn!
KENNEDY
Ok, now don't freak out.
Kennedy grabs a phone and starts calling 911. After a minute she coveres the phone with her hand.
KENNEDY
Paramedics are on their way. I'll take care of it. You go and help Dawn.
Willow runs out of the room.

Mark, Patrick and Dawn are in a warehouse. Dawn is tied to a chair. She's unconcious as well.
MARK
So Jim is out of the way?
PATRICK
All taken care of
MARK
Good. That guy was starting to bug me.
Dawn starts to wake up
MARK
Oh look, she's waking up.
Dawn looks around.
DAWN
Not another warehouse. What is it with bad guys and warehouses?
PATRICK
It's big, empty and in the middle of nowhere. Is that reason enough?
DAWN
What have you done with Xander and Andrew?
PATRICK
They'll live...
Dawn struggles to get free but she's tied up good and she can't get out.
DAWN
What do you want with me?
PATRICK
We just like the company
MARK
Torture.. kill.. maim..
PATRICK *smiles*
Oh yeah, and that too

Willow is running after a bright ball of light that leads her to a warehouse. The light then dims.
She doesn't see Jim, who has followed her.
Willow walks to the door, which is firmly locked with several locks.
Willow chants a few words. Her eyes are black. She streches her arms toward the door and it falls
into the warehouse as if it just stood loose.
All of this did not go unnoticed by Mark and Patrick as they face the door.
Willow walks inside.
MARK
Hey, she won!
PATRICK
So it would appear. So did you get my message?
Jim stands in the doorway. Nobody notices him. He looks very angry.
WILLOW
Thanks for telling me, but I kinda don't like you kidnapping Dawn.
Mark runs towards her but he is really no match for an angry Willow. She swoops him aside and then
she turns her attention to Patrick.
WILLOW *to Patrick*
Ok, that was pathetic. Can you do any better?
Patrick chants a few words and a demon made completely of stone emerges from the floor.
Patrick smiles as if he already won. Willow raises her hands to the sky.
WILLOW
Dissolve!
The stone demon crumbles to the floor and dissolves as if it was never there. Patrick quickly runs to the
door but he is interrupted by Jim, who jams a knife in his throat as soon Patrick steps through the doorway.
Patrick falls to the floor and is clearly dead, blood is all around. Jim runs into the night.
WILLOW
Okay, now it's your turn, you..... where did he go?
Willow looks around, but Mark is nowhere to be seen.
DAWN
How's Xander and Andrew?
WILLOW
We called the paramedics and Kennedy saw to that they got to the hospital.
Willow waves her hands and Dawn's ropes fall from her arms and legs. They both walk out of the warehouse

Willow and Dawn arrive at the hospital. The doctor she adresses happens to be the same one who examined
Xander and Andrew and is very helpfull in locating them. They are both in the same room.
Willow and Dawn walk in. kennedy is sitting on a chair in the corner, reading some magazine.
XANDER *to Dawn*
Oh, thank god you're okay
DAWN
That's my line... and thank Willow.
Dawn walks over to Xander's bed and they hug.
ANDREW
Yeah, I'm okay too
DAWN
So, are you two alright?
ANDREW
Yeah.. although.. they won't let me bring my CD-player.
XANDER
I think I might stay here for awhile. By the way, didn't you have a date?
Dawn looks at her watch, which reads 9.15.
DAWN
Damn, it's too late
XANDER
It's never too late. Go ahead, have some fun. We're fine. Visiting hours are over anyway.
DAWN
Thanks
Dawn walks out, seemly in a hurry.

Dawn arrives at the movies just in time to see Mitch walking away.
DAWN
Mitch!
Dawn runs towards Mitch. After mere seconds she is standing besides him, out of breath.
MITCH
Did you run all the way over here?
DAWN
Kinda
MITCH
Movie already started.
DAWN
Is this a good time to use one of the excuses you learned me?
MITCH
Now would be a good time
DAWN
...Will you go out with me?
MITCH *smiles widely*

At the office, the man still sits behind his desk. We see then same view as before, except that there is now only
one person in front of him.
????
You failed me!
MARK
Hey, I didn't know she was that powerfull.
????
No excuses.
The man says something in a language that doesn't even sound human and a black cloud of energy appears behind Mark.
Mark gets scared and starts to beg.
MARK
Hey come on, I can try again. I won't fail again.
????
Too late
The black cloud seems to absorb Mark as he gets sucked into the cloud. The cloud then disappears.
The camera focusses on the man behind the desk. We see the man sitting behind the desk.
He is a black man with blonde hair. He looks quite in shape; the muscles show through the expensive
suit he is wearing.
????
