WILLPOWER PART 14: FACING THE PAST

Andrew, Xander, Giles, Kennedy and Willow are patrolling through one of Sunnydales cemetaries.
Unlike what you would expect, Andrew is quiet and keeps a close eye to his surroundings, just like
the others. They walk through a field that is filled with small tomb stones.
XANDER
Are you sure Dawn's okay at home?
WILLOW
She said she was fine. Why doubt her?
ANDREW
I called Mitch to stay with her?
KENNEDY
You did what? Why?
Andrew gives Kennedy a look, indicating Kennedy just asked a stupid question.
ANDREW
Because she can't walk.... geez
WILLOW
It's good that you called him. I think they could use some time together.
By this time, they reached the other side of the field. They spot a small brownish demon about thirty feet away
from them, snarling loudly at them. And then running away.
GILES
Good job everyone, talk really loud.
The gang runs to follow the demon. The demon runs into an area with bigger crypts and mausoleums.
The gang stops in their tracks for a second. The demon jumps from the top of one of the crypts on Willow's head.
He gives a strong hit on Willow's head before jumping off her. The gang then notices that the demon's arms are
practically human size while he is only about half as tall as a human.
He leaps at Xander but Xander doesn't have too much trouble with this demon. He waves his sword and hits the demon.
It's not a full hit however, so the demon is wounded, but not dead. Hurt, the demon quickly runs away.
KENNEDY
Why are the little ones always so fast?
They run again and try to follow the creature. When they arrive at a clearing they stop.
WILLOW
We lost it guys. Let's just keep patrolling
XANDER *out of breath*
Does that mean we can stop running?
Willow and Giles nod.
XANDER *out of breath*
Good
The gang walks off. The brown demon looks at them from the top of one of the trees that surround the clearing.

We're at the Summers' home. It's light and, judging by the bowl of cereal Andrew is eating, it's probably morning.
A look around reveals that only Dawn and Andrew are present in the place. Dawn is lying in her bed that is positioned
in the living room. Andrew is sitting on the couch, eating his cereal.
ANDREW
I heard that Mitch is coming over this afternoon?
DAWN *smiling*
Yes, he was here last night too.
ANDREW
I know. So, what'd you two do?
DAWN
Well, there wasn't really a lot to do. We watched an action movie. It was actually pretty
good. Mitch didn't like it though. You guys have no appreciation for good movies.
ANDREW
You must be doing better.... and on behalf of all guys, Hey!
DAWN
Sorry, I just mean, that movie was great, but Mitch seemed to dislike it.
ANDREW
What was the movie called?
DAWN
Die Hard
ANDREW
And he didn't like that? *not serious* That bastard!
Dawn suddenly stops smiling and looks at Andrew
DAWN
So how are things with Rachel?
ANDREW
Well, I haven't told her anything..... or to be precise, I haven't talked to her
DAWN
Why not?
ANDREW
Because I don't want to
DAWN
Why not?
ANDREW
Is that your phrase-of-the-day? There is nothing she can say that can justify what she did. She
went after someone else when she was dating me, *and* it was a girl, *and* it was a friend of mine.
DAWN
You should still talk to her
ANDREW
Why?
DAWN
Because it's the right thing to do
ANDREW
Why?
DAWN
Now who's using a prase-of-the-day? You can't just push this away. You'll have to face her
sometime. And the longer you wait with the dealing, the harder it'll get.
ANDREW
What gave you this sudden burst of wisdom?
DAWN
The Bold And The Beautiful. Mitch is a regular viewer.
ANDREW
Well... that's... intersting. What'd you think of it?
DAWN
Well, it was terrible. I can't believe he likes that stuff.
ANDREW *shocked face*
Neither can I. He watches that every day?
DAWN
Yes he does and you gotta keep your mouth shut. I promised him I wouldn't tell anyone.
ANDREW *smiles*
My lips are sealed. It's good to see you're doing better.

Willow is walking over campus. It's early, so it's pretty quiet. Willow walks over one of the main paths and
stumbles over a corpse. She quickly stands up and looks at the corpse. When she realizes the corpse is human,
she backs off a few paces. Some guy walks over to her to see what's going on.
GUY
Oh my god!
The guy immediately pulls out his cellphone and calls the police.
When the police arrive, they ask who called the police. The guy tells him he did and the police quickly find out
that it was Willow who found the corpse. After an initial friendly request from one of the police officers for
Willow to tell everything that happened, one of the other policemen suddenly draws his gun and points it at Willow.
POLICE OFFICER *shouts*
Get down on the floor, now!
WILLOW
What's the problem?
POLICE OFFICER
Do it now
Not wanting to cause any trouble, Willow complies and the police officer handcuffs her and takes her into the police car.
WILLOW
What's wrong? I didn't do it!
POLICE OFFICER
Maybe not.... but I recognize you. You destroyed ou precinct more than a year ago.
Willow decides to stop talking and ask Giles for help later.

Giles is working at the magic box. It's quite a big mess there, but not the this-place-got-trashed-again way.
Giles is doing an extensive inventory check. The store is closed and there is no-one in the store but Giles.
When the phone rings, Giles walks towards it very carefully, as the floor is littered with items of all kinds.
As he picks up the phone he steps into a small crystal and it shatters under his feet.
GILES
Blasted!.... Sorry, I just broke a crystal.... Willow, tell me what's wrong. Where are you?....
What's wrong?.... Hold on. I'll be right there
Giles picks up the phone and hurriedly walks towards the exit, breaking more items in his path.

Willow hangs up the phone at the precinct. The guard motions her to go back to her cell. The guard doesn't
seems to be very comfortable guarding Willow. There is only one other guard in sight though, at the far end of the room.
Willow goes back to her cell and sits down as the guard locks the door. Willow stares in front of her.
We see events from 'Two To Go' from Willow's viewpoint.
###FLASHBACK###
Dark Willow is holding the cops away while demolishing a wall of the precinct.
Dark Willow floats up to the hole, looking for Andrew and Jonathan. She steps into the precinct and find Anya instead
of Andrew and Jonathan. Dark Willow shoots Anya with a bolt of lightning.
###END OF FLASHBACK###
Willow looks at her cell. It's the same one that Andrew and Jonathan were in.
Willow's expression is clear: she wonders wether or not this is where she belongs.

The phone rings at the Summers' home. Dawn is kinda immobile so Andrew picks up the phone.
ANDREW
Summers' house.... oh hi Giles.... she what?.... ok.... ok.... ok
Andrew hangs up the phone and goes back to the living room, where Dawn is.
DAWN
That was Giles?
ANDREW *confused*
Yeah
Dawn sees Andrew's expression and immediately gets serious.
DAWN *serious and worried*
What's wrong?
ANDREW
It's Willow... she's been arrested
DAWN
For what?
ANDREW
Destroying the precinct.
DAWN
What? That was more than a year ago.
ANDREW
Some cop recognized her, that's all I know. Giles asked me to give the news to Xander and Kennedy too
Andrew sits down and the two of them stare in front of them a minute, letting it sink in.
DAWN
Andrew, can I ask you something?
ANDREW
You want to know if I think Willow belongs in jail?
Dawn gives Andrew a surprised look, indicating that he geussed right.
ANDREW
No, I don't think she belongs there.... Do you?
DAWN
No, but I'm not the one she tried to kill
ANDREW
That's not what I heard. I heard she was about to kill you at that creepy warlock's place when
Buffy came in.
DAWN
You're right. But I still don't think she deserves to be in there.
ANDREW
I'm gonna give Xander and Kennedy a call
Andrew stands up and walks to the phone again.

In a completely different room, Kate is in the middle of another conversation with her unknown master.
MASTER
... so get it, now
KATE
I'm sorry, your greatness. But I performed the ritual and the object is in the watchers' house.
MASTER
So what's the problem? Get it!
KATE
I can't enter his house uninvited.
MASTER
*forcefull* So, get someone else to do it! Just get it!...
*kind* You want to please me, right? Then get me what I need.
KATE
I have an idea, your unholiness

Mitch has arrived at the Summers' home. Andrew is still there. He has clearly just heard that Willow is in jail.
He has seen Willow in her bad magic appearance, but never expected her to be arrested.
MITCH
Then why is she under arrest?
DAWN
She destroyed the precinct more than a year ago.
MITCH
Why?
DAWN
Because she thought two people inside were responsible for the death of her girlfriend.
MITCH
What did she do to them?
DAWN
Well, nothing. Buffy rescued them.
MITCH
And did those two go to jail?
ANDREW
No
MITCH
You mean those bastards escaped
Andrew is getting an annoyed look on his face.
ANDREW
Yes, they did.
DAWN *to Mitch*
We have to do something to get her out
MITCH
Are you crazy? You don't mess with the police.
DAWN
But they might convict her
MITCH
I like Willow, but if she did that, she's guilty
DAWN
Are you saying you think she deserves to go to jail?
MITCH
I don't know
Both Dawn and Andrew look annoyed now.

Xander and kennedy arrive at the Summers' house as well. After giving them an update on the situation, Xander and Kennedy
decide to go to Willow and leave. Andrew, Mitch and Dawn are still in the living room.
DAWN
I want to do something to help Willow
ANDREW
Like what?
DAWN
A spell. I want to do a spell.
MITCH
Are you kidding? You're in no condition to be doing magic.
DAWN
I have to... and I need the two of you to help
MITCH
I don't like this
ANDREW
You just be careful
DAWN
You mean you'll help?
ANDREW
Of course. I know you. If we didn't help you you'd do the spell alone.
Dawn smiles because she knows he is right
MITCH
Alright then, but you gotta promise to stop if it's too much for you
DAWN
Okay, I'm gonna need the following ingredients....

Kate is walking through the same cemetary as the scoobs were walking through the night before.
She finds the same small, brown demon that escaped from the scoobs. The demon attacks Kate but quickly looses and
is pinned against the wall of a crypt.
KATE
How would you like to live?
DEMON
What?
KATE
I need a favor and I can give you anything you want?
DEMON
Anything?

Willow is still in her cell. Giles is there too, but he's outside the cell. Giles has been talking to Willow
about what happened and the two are thinking up a plan. They aren't very succesfull though. Bashing out would
be easy, but not the thing to do. Then, Xander and Kennedy arrive.
GUARD
More visitors for that crazy girl?
KENNEDY
She's not crazy!
Kennedy and Xander proceed to Willow's cell.
XANDER
Hey
KENNEDY
We're gonna get you out, you know?
WILLOW
How?
The door of the precinct opens. The guard's head is turned away from the door.
VOICE (O.S.)
I'm here to see Willow
GUARD
Crazy girl is popular
The guard turns his head towards the visitor and is shocked to find Dark Willow standing there.
DARK WILLOW
Can I see her?
GUARD *scared*
Yes, do whatever you want

We're at the Summers' home with Dawn in a trance. Andrew and Mitch are sitting around her.
DAWN
Good. Now get....

Back with Dark Willow.
DARK WILLOW
out of my way.
The guard quickly steps out of Dark Willow's way. Dark Willow steps up to Willow and starts talking to her. Dark Willow
talks very loudly so the guard can hear every word.
DARK WILLOW *whispers*
I'm Dawn, just play along okay?
DARK WILLOW
So, they arrested you? You want me to bust you out, it is kinda my fault you're here.
WILLOW
No
DARK WILLOW
This is typical, I destroy property and you get blamed... it's kinda funny.
WILLOW
What's funny about that?
DARK WILLOW
It's funny that I can just walk in here without anyone trying to arrest me, because they know
I'll evicerate them. You, on the other hand, didn't do anything... and they arrest you.
That per definition, is funny.
WILLOW
And you came here to....
DARK WILLOW
Truthfully? I came here to make fun of you
WILLOW
Oh yeah, look behind you
Dark Willow turns around and sees more than ten cops with drawn guns behind her.
COP
Get on the floor...now!
Then, Dark Willow evaporates, leaving nothing but air.
COP2
How'd she do that?
The cops all look around, confused. They can't believ what just happened, but they know what they saw.

It's about an ten minutes later. The guard let's Willow out of her cell and tells her that she's free to go.
Willow walks out of her cell and follows Xander, Kennedy and Giles out.
GUARD
Sorry for the mix-up.
WILLOW
That's okay
They all leave the precinct.
XANDER
That was bracing
KENNEDY
That was a really close call. Couldn't you just cast a spell on them?
WILLOW
No. I promised myself not to cast spells on humans... unless it's an extreme emergency
GILES
I think you did good. Come on, let's get home

When the gang arrives at the Summers' place, they are greeted by Mitch, who is waiting for them at the front door.
He looks confused and shocked. They all realize something is wrong
WILLOW
What's wrong?
Mitch walks inside and the gang follows after him. He walks towards the living room.
Willow walks towards Dawn. She's lying on the bed. Her eyes are open and a tear has formed in her left eye.
Then Willow notices Andrew who is lying on the floor next to her.
Willow rushes over to Andrew
WILLOW
What happened?
MITCH
Dawn.... she....
WILLOW
She drained him?
MITCH
Yes
Willow checks Andrew and then turns towards Dawn and Mitch.
WILLOW *comforting*
Don't worry, Andrew will be fine
DAWN
Really?
WILLOW
It's only a temporary thing. He'll recover.
KENNEDY
Yeah Dawn, Willow did the same thing to me once. She told me that she needed power so she
drained power from the strongest person in the room.
Mitch's eyes suddenly widen, but he doesn't say anything about it.
XANDER
Anyway, Will says he'll be alright, so we don't have to worry
GILES
What a day. And I'm suddenly realizing the Magic Box is still a battlezone
XANDER
Need a help G-man?
GILES
Tomorrow. I've had enough excitement for one day

Giles arrives at home and finds his door bashed in.
GILES
This is just not funny anymore
Giles walks in. Inside there is nothing that indicates a breakin. Giles walks through the house, but everything seems
the way it was. Giles picks up the phone and dials a number.
GILES
Hello? Kennedy? This is Giles. You all should come to my house. I've had another visitor.
About ten minutes later, Willow, Kennedy and Xander arrive at Giles' place. They see the broken door and walk inside.
Giles is sitting on the couch in the living room, clearly working for them.
XANDER
Your place sure is popular with the demons. Ever thought about housing in a bunker or something?
GILES
Okay Xander, first off, we don't know that it was demons who did this
WILLOW
Then again, with the Sunnydale reputation....
KENNEDY
Did they take anything?
GILES
Only one thing is missing as far as I can tell.... that strange dagger we found a couple of
nights ago.

We are in a huge empty room. There is only one door out of the room, but other than that, there are only grey
bricks visible in all directions. Kate is sitting on the floor and is holding the dagger in her right hand.
KATE
Omni fa sur. Dehere amahr sur ma. Tevahlkonef est invoc. Acum!
Kate stabs the dagger in her chest and keeps it there, she manages to stay seated for about two seconds and then she
collapses on the floor. She gathers the last of her strength and rises to her feet.
KATE *yells*
Come!
Suddenly, the knife starts to radiate a blue light. We see Kate turn to dust, but before the dust hits the floor, we
see the dust form something else. The knife drops to the floor. We get a good look at what the dust formed.
It's Glory
GLORY *mocking*
Oh, I'm sorry honey. Did I forget to mention that?
Glory smiles.
