Virgil looked at Lyn for a moment...then revealed his brilliant strategy.
"RUN LIKE HELL!!"
He took the carbine off his shoulder and sho a huge power converter across the alley fro them, causing all of the lights in a two-block radius to go out. The last thing they needed was these things growing. "SOLACE!! LEON!!" He yelled, not knowing Leon already went back to the street. "GET OUTTA HERE FAST!!" Then he turned and ran for the other side of the roof, dragging Lyn behind him.
"Calenderi! Warn the others!!" The dragon hopped out of Virgil's pack, gave them a worried backwards glance, then reluctantly complied, flapping off to find the group.
Virgil planned to hop off the roof, use TK to slow their fall, then run through the alley on the other side. But jut as they got there, three huge shadows reared up in front of them.
"SHIIIITTTT!!!" He tried to put another Barrier up, but it was too late. The things were already reaching out, shadowy limbs wrapping arund Virgil and Lyn, pinning their arms to their sides. Virgil tried to squirm free, but he could feel the thing sucking the energy out of him...and soon his struggles grew weaker as a heavy-lidded feeling settled over him.
Can't fall asleep..got to... "Lyn....sorry...I--"
Then he went limp in the shadow's arms, completely uconscious, his carbine clattering to the ground.
