You state, 'but lets not ignore that business and ethical issues don't go well together'. That would indicate that all business are inherently bad. You did not say business and good ethics 'may' not go to together, but business and good ehtics DO NOT go together. That's a mighty large and bold statement. For all those ethical business people, (I believe there are more ehtical people than not ethical), your statement could easily be considered an insult.

1) After the dog leaves their place they don't have any control over the owner, so they can't do anything about it.

That's correct. And what's more that's the way it should be. Once I've bought a car, or you've bought a car, the previous owner no longer has a right to your car or an obligation to see to it that you use your car in a manner that does not infringe on the right's of others. The only obligation of the previous owner is to ensure that you know everything about that car that he or she knows. If the car is used in a manner as to infringe on the rights of others allow the laws of the land to inhibit improper actions, if the law does not inhibit, then allow 'the law' to punish as designed. That's what we make laws for. I'll be responsible for my personal actions and you be and accept responsibility for your actions.

2) They screen their customers thoroughly and they will make sure the pup goes to a good home.

You're right. It is wishful thinking. However, all you can do is listen for key questions; are they game, are they as tough as,,,, and so on. Then hope you're not being conned and you sell a pup to someone who will not abuse it or use it's nature for improper reasons. If they do, once again, allow the laws of the land to govern as intended.

3) They will charge alot of money for their pups for several reasons and one being to keep the pup out of the hands of people who cannot afford to raise it properly.

The price of any service or commodity, (even a puppy), is what the market will pay. That too is at it should be. It's called capitalism, also known as free enterprise.

4) They will only breed a limited amount of litters and only when they get enough people on a waiting list.

I have five females, my plan is to breed about one litter a year. However, if I chose to breed five litters a year,,,,,,, that's also known as free enterprise and my choice,,,,,,,,,,,,or yours.

For all of you breeders that want to make a point to the contrary. Prove me wrong and send me one of your pic of litters and then don't charge me for it. Hey, I'm not a bad businessman either LOL :)

I do not intend to attempt to prove you wrong. You're entitled to your belief, the same as I. I make no apology in the statement, 'I hope my hobby brings in more money than I spend. It hasn't so far, but if and when it does I'll not apologize for it.'
