Subject: Request for Appraisal Improvemnt Suggestions

Recently David Harris posted that he had been in contact with officials from the HBSA and that they were seeking input as to how to improve (expand) the appraisal method so that the appraisal could move to help preserve (create) the Historically Correct Boerboel. On the surface that short statement sounds pretty simple. In reality is not so simple. If it were asked of ten people, can you describe a 'historically correct boerboel', you would likely get ten similar sounding answers that were in fact quite different.

In general, the historically correct boerboel should, A)look like a boerboel, B)act (have the tempermant of) like a boerboel, C)have the endurance/agility of a boerboel, 3)etc.

So the task I ask of the boerboel coummunity out there is,
1)define the above, (especially 2 & 3).
2)(here's the harder part) devise a test that could be emplemented as part of the appraisal that would demonstrate what you define in number 1. The test must be able to be standardized so that the resulting appraisal would result in the same appraisal score if given in the mountains of Utah or the flatlands of Kansas. It must take as much subjectivity out of the apprasial as possible. It must be able to be given in a public forum where other people and dogs are present and present no threat to those people and dogs in attendance.

Once the definitions are established and the tests have been devised, what are the rewards for having a dog get a passing appraisal score that would result in having a 'historically correct boerboel' title bestowed.

Your input could be very well help determine the future of the 'historically correct boerboel'. Thank you for your input.
