Well it looks like the chickens are coming home to roost. Robin obviously did not breed this pup and claims innocence of any wrongdoing since she gave him to Cathy. Well, if you are going to present yourself to the world as “having passed the SABT Breeders Course”, and a “licensed Boerboel judge and breed inspector” it would appear that either that course is useless or you need to take it over. I would think that a “licensed judge and breed inspector” would be able to recognize a severely defective 7-month-old puppy. I’m sure Cathy is out a few dollars in air freight charges not to mention the disappointment of getting a pup with the problems this one has. You claim to have years of experience breeding top ABs and have also bragged that your planned breeding this year will be the litter of the century. Now you protest that you can’t be blamed for the condition of Cathy’s puppy because you aren’t a breeder and never raised a male puppy before. That may well be true (I certainly believe you are a victim of lack of experience) but you can’t have it both ways..
This pup was bred by Melinda, who x-rayed it at 4 months looking for a missing testicle and then said the hips appeared to be OK. The fact that she sent Robin a show/breeding prospect knowing that it had only one testicle says worlds about HER knowledge and/or ethics. This pup is a son of Kobus, the dog that she essentially gave to a Secret Service Agent in Chicago after the dog’s hips were x-rays and proved that he had severe HD. Well, she got the dog back (wonder why) and BRED him. Now it looks as if she is planning to try to get his hips approved in South Africa. Evidently they have lower standards over there. The dog has bad hips or he doesn’t. Shopping around for some passing score won’t make them any better. I guess it’s like taking your dog to another appraisal hoping to get a higher score. Same mentality.
Gina is right when she says that no registry or club should be judged because of the actions of one person. I have gotten some good dogs from SABT breeders-and some bad ones- but Melinda is not just a member or a breeder, she is the USA representative for the SABT and should be held to a higher standard and trying to set an example
