To all,

The point of my post was to let people know that experts feel that demodex is caused by immune system deficiences that are congenitally passed from parents to pups. Even Lori's lengthy article about nutrition as treatment states that the immune system weakness is congenital.

My tongue-in-cheek remark about JB was simply a HA HA since everyone thinks I get up in the morning just to slam him. I don't have any use for him or breeders like him, but I do have a life. And it wouldn't have mattered who the breeder of Nala was to me. I still would have posted the information about demodex. It does irritate me to see all mention of Nala's health problems swept under the rug when someone should be truthful enough after the information I posted to tell everyone here who her parents are and that the best course when considering a puppy from them would be extreme caution.

I in no way knocked Nala as a dog. She is a pretty pup, and as I said earlier, my hope is that Angela has no further health issues with her. I saw what Ed went through with his Tessa, who went completely bald before she got better...and who still has problems periodically. I would not wish that experience on anyone. If some people get upset because he and I are concerned enough to try and let people know how the disease occurs and how it is passed from parent to pup, well that's just too bad.

Lori-As for the breeders I refer to and/or disagree with on my web page concerning "work", I'll gladly name the ones I am aware of. These are people that I have seen post on boards or advertise on their web pages about bite work and bite-restraining livestock. They are David Harris, John Blackwell, Sanctuary Kennels, Shadow Wolf Ranch and Dan Huffman. Chances are you know even more of the people who support this than I do since you seem to feel that JB and group need your undivided support on the boards and because I see your name quite often on his message board...when I look every 6 months or so. And I loved your remark to Ed about his being fooled by Ron Swart's seeming honesty. You are in the same bucket and don't even realize it. It amazes me that all you JB and group supporters feel that they are so victimized when someone tells the truth. I would think that if JB is as great as he tells everyone he is that he could defend himself in a open discussion and not need you or anybody else's help. Instead, every time anyone is the least bit critical of him, an entire horde of the same people always show up being abusive of the poster and defensive of JB. He uses the same ploy that worked so well for Ellen/Angel Roberts. He gets people to feel that he is an innocent victim and that any person who criticizes him must be jealous of him or that they feel threatened by him, etc. etc., etc. I am just glad that there are some people who see through that old ploy for what it is. As for Ron Swart, I don't think he cares what anybody does with his dogs as long as he gets his money. As for breeders I WILL recommend to people who inquire, they are only breeders that I know personally and who care about doing what is right for the breed. That goes for breeders in the US and South Africa.

I hope this clears up some things for people reading these posts. My main intention was one of information concerning demodectic mange. No dog that has had demodex should be bred to produce pups who will have a lack of immunity to an infestation. And ANY BREEDER who REALLY CARES about his/her dogs or about the people who might buy their pups would not chose to breed a dog that has had demodectic mange or that might be a carrier. And from the information I found, that goes for the mother AND the father.
