Subject: Question for Ed...
In reply to: Ed Davis 's message, "DEMODEX: FOR THE RECORD!!" on 15:19:51 10/03/03 Fri

Ed I take it that you have looked into this quite a bit as I'm sure Angela has because of your experiences. So here is my question. Angela stated,

"You can take a dam who has produced an entire litter of demodectic pups, put her on a grainless raw diet (a la Kymythy Schultze) with supplementation for a year, breed her again and she will not produce any demodex in the subsequent litter. I know, because I've done it. If it were genetic, or in the genes, it would not matter WHAT I fed her, at least a certain percentage of her pups would have it."

I was under the impression that Angela's description was the standard train of thought on this disease. I see now that I may be wrong but I know that I have heard this before when reading up on a different breed (granted this was on another board). What's your take on this? Never had this problem and I hope my dogs never will, but it would be nice to get to the bottom of this. Are there any good websites that you have come across that give both sides of this argument?

Thanks,
Dan G.
