DEMODEX: FOR THE RECORD!!

OK folks, here are the current facts as of this day in SCIENCE: The idea of Quarantining dogs with demodex was discarded 25 to 30 years ago. If the dog has a decent immune system, They just don't get it!!! PERIOD. The mites are transfered to the pup from the mother within 3 days of birth possibly because the mites can't tell the difference as they live out their entire life cycle on the host. The immune defiency required for the mites to proliferate IS GENETIC from the parents, ONE OR THE OTHER, OR A COMBINATION of BOTH. IT IS and I REPEAT IS not contagious!! Demodex is a direct indicator of problems to come in the life of the dog. LIKE: life span shortened by an average of 5 years!! Yes I said 5 YEARS! and almost certain serious problems with liver and or kidney function in later life, with a multitude of other possible complications which add up to a severely shortened life span potential. SO after spending most of this day talking to University Vet Hospitals and just different VETS and other Breeders with experience, I will say to JOHN and anyone out there who might even consider breeding a dog with demodex, If You know It and You do it, You belong in the breeder's hall of SHAME with the likes of The SORRY, NO GOOD RONNIE SWART!! Now is that plain enough??? Ed Davis
