Ouch! Soft shoes are really not made to go on pointe in ... they're not pointe shoes! Do you mean you're actually going on true pointe in a soft shoe - not good! It does sound like you might have a bunion - this happens when a joint becomes abnormally stressed over an extended period of time. Basically it would look like an slight enlargement at the base of your great toe and can be bone or tissue. If left untreated it could get worse. You might want to see a podiatrist to see if this is the case or if it's something else. Padding can help somewhat (if you don't want to get new padded ghillies - Pacelli and Corrs make great ones - then maybe get some kind of insert of some kind) and good fitting street shoes (especially width) are important. Advil doesn't hurt 'cause its an antiinflamatory med. Best to have it looked at if you're serious about your dancing. That way you're sure and you'll get the proper what to do's from your doc/pt. Hope this helps! Good luck!!

Thanks, well see i have no problem at all going on point in soft shoes i am properly trained to do it and everything (i am on point in ballet, etc.) But with bunions you already have the joint popping out, before it actually hurts, and there is no sign of and bunions on my foot and the aching has been going on for weeks so its not in its early stages. We are going to get it looked at! Thanks for making me aware of this i'll tell you what the doctor has sadi as soon as I find out! Thanks again!!!! (NT)Elle21:22:38 05/26/03 Mon
