You can order a new card after 31st Dec as if you're a new subscriber. Are you far enough North not to be affected by the switch of C5 from the South beam ?

My recommendation is head to UK before Xmas (with digi-box as hand luggage) and enable new or replacement card in UK at a convenient location where you have access to an aligned dish etc etc.... Good luck.
