Subject: Throwing it out there....

OK. We have been doing alot of talking about CCSU being stuck in the mud regarding a new facility for what ever reason ( lack of funds, lack of interest, lack of time) Maybe we can get a little grass roots on this issue.

Is there any interest in helping me setting up a Web site to raise awareness of this issue of a new Athletic stadium and point out the lack of balance of funding between the evil empire (UCONN) and the CSU system. (If there really is one) Setting up a web site and parking a domain name is pretty cheap and can be done quickly. (I do Computers and server stuff for a living )
I would be more concerned in setting up a simple web site that could get our point across quickly and not make the Athletic supporters (Ha ha) not look to whiney and provide Factual Information relating to a new staduim. If you are interested, shoot me an email at my google account. Based on the number of emails I get a reply from, we can go from there.

If we got a nice little web site set up, if you run across this in conservation, you coule point them to the web site. Having a decision maker look at some forum threads just wont cut the mustard.

What do you think?

I posted in a previous post the football stadium is already planned for an expansion (yes, I was serious). They are waiting for some i's to be dotted and some t's to be crossed but it look like they will be using bond money to redo ALL of the outside fields. Basketball.....who knows.

Insider! You really got a handle on what needs to be done. Your posts always puts things about CCSU into perspective. Now let's get ready for some football!

Count me in for the website idea. I stand corrected on what I said before. It does look like they are serious about expanding the football stadium and all the other outdoor facilties...including a track and field.

Plans also include realigning the baseball and softball diamonds to accomodate the repositioning of the soccer field and new track and to include stands for baseball.

As far as a basketball venue goes, it still looks to me like downtown is CCSU's only realistic option. Still...they just spent a ton of $$ to improve Kaiser as best as they can which leads me to believe an on-campus facility is not in the plans.

i wouldnt take the gym renovation as meaning we wont see a new arena sometime. remember, the athletic department is not the only department that uses the gym. phys ed has classes in there all day, as well as open rec time and intramurals (however slim that program might be) and several outside people that come in to use the gym on a weekly or daily basis. the gym needed to be redone, they removed a boatload of asbestos during the process, just to meet minimum safety regulations, so even though they spent well over a million bucks to do it, i wouldnt say it is the end all in deciding whether a new facility will be built.
