I guess we can agree to disagree. Personally, I'd rather see 3,000 people in the stands for at least home game than seeing about 400 in the stands at Wagner. A neutral site would be a disaster, just look at attendance numbers when the tournament was in Trenton. It is not a big enough draw and the only way to put people in the seats is to have it on home courts. Unfortunately, it takes away the opportunity to watch more than one game in a day, but how many NEC fans do that? Not many.
As for the other discussion, the one thing you are forgetting is that those schools are state schools, yes, but they are also the only game in town. Maine is all alone up there. As is UVM and UNH. When you are the only game in town you get all the funding, and all the fan support and merchandise sales, etc. That isn't the case where we are. We will always play second fiddle to UConn.
