Mr. Warner is mentioned in it.

Also in Yahoo news:

-``Major Barbara.'' Cherry Jones, David Warner and Dana Ivey star in a revival of the George Bernard Shaw comedy. Warner and Ivey shine, but Jones gives a curiously muted performance in the title role. American Airlines/Selwyn. 212-719-1300. Closes Sept. 2.

After reading it, I felt like I'd already seen the movie! Arrrgh. Hope I can forget what I read before I go and see it; I *have* to go see it just on principle and want to try to enjoy is as much as possible.

Here is another review from Entertainment Weekly that says pretty much the same thing without giving away the whole plot:

They gave it a C+ overall. (Unfortunately, I always agree with this reviewer and his colleague, Lisa Schwarzbaum.)

I saw the special on Fox 61 and the only complaints I had were that they didn't give him any name credit and Helena Bonham Carter's bad makeup! I thought the movie looked good. While Mark Wahlberg is no...well, David Warner...I don't think he's gawd-awful either. He was very articulate in his interviews and that impressed me. I've seen him in other roles and he held his own. POTA won't be Shakespeare, but it's not meant to be. It's meant to be a blockbuster like Terminator and other mindless fare like that. (no offense) I think I sense the reasoning behind Mr. Warner's interest in being in this film and it's not for the accolades it will earn him, obviously. It's to be recognized by Hollywood. He is still a virtual unknown in those parts.

I agree with you SP. Just as with 'Titanic', 'POTA' will give him good exposure in Hollywood even though his is a supporting role. I'm looking forward to watching his
scene(s) opposite the always interesting Tim Roth who looks amazing in the film.

I saw POTA the other night. It was very similar to yet completely different from the original. The story parallels the original (and there's an interesting cameo by one of the original actors), but there's not a single character from the original story in this version and the premise is entirely different. Then there's that mystery ending no one can figure out. (I think I smell a sequel!) There's a poignant animal-rights message here, which is fine with me. (Made me feel guilty saying good night to my own little "prisoners" back home!) I thought the original had a tighter script, although this version had some good laughs; the ape make-up was better, of course; and, being a Tim Burton film, the art direction and score were stunning.

In this version, the apes act a lot more like apes than humans for a change--but it's almost too exaggerated, and the "flying monkeys" really stretched my credibility; whenever they get mad, they defy gravity by bouncing off the walls, the ceiling, etc.; looks like everything's trying to follow in the footsteps of the Matrix or Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon nowadays. It was totally out of place here. And, as I mentioned before, for some reason, only Tim Roth, was able to enunciate around those fake ape teeth; it was almost comical to hear them try. The dialog *really* should have been overdubbed.

DW's performance as "animal"-rights activist Helena Bonhma Carter's dad was convincing and sympathetic. (All you can see of him, though, is his eyes ... and I think his lower lip and fingers are unencumbered as well.) He gets slightly more screen time in this film than he did in Wing Commander--about three or four scenes, maybe 10 minutes in all. Unfortunately, I'd seen almost all of them already in previews on the various late-night talk shows, and he disappears from the story halfway through!
