In reply to: Jen again (why won't I just go away?????) 's message, "Ian McKellen on the future of the Internet" on 19:25:27 08/22/01 Wed

the most wonderful thing for me as an internet user is not only the opportunity to search tons of information--I do lots of research on art, history, anthropology and ancient religions, but also to connect with people all over the world...I don't just haunt this chatboard, ya know!

He also mentions that he felt bad for people who asked for his autograph until he realized a good number were just going to turn around and sell it on EBay (speaking of Ebay). He's doing an online diary on the shooting of Lord of the Rings. Melissa asked me if DW was in it because someone she knows saw a promo and thought he was in it, but it might have been just Ian in a beard shot from hobbit-eye-level. I can only cross my fingers that Major Barbara gets extended long enough for these guys to cross paths in NYC so IM can drag DW into an internet cafe (are there any left?) and show him the ropes.
Meanwhile, I just got an email that some distance learning program is using one of my fairytale research pages as part of its online syllabus. I was just going to take it down too! Life is nutz.

LOL! That's quite an image: McKellen teaching Internet 101 to DW in some coffee bar.
