Raina Imelda Nocivelli
You're actions now, they're really driving me
Driving me into a deep bed of insanity
You need to talk to me
You need to feel it deeply

*It been a long day, and by now she was just about ready for this whole thing to be over. she was tired, no down right exhausted already, and she wanted to just curl up and put the trip behind her. She never really liked the travel part of traveling, and she was sick of it already. The worst part of that was that the true travel hasn’t even started yet. The day started out early though, having been out of bed, she pretty much been running nonstop since then, running around the house making sure everything was in order, before it was time to head off. It was hectic to say the least, but they did make it, and that was all that mattered. She wasn’t so sure she could handle it if she missed her plane, she wasn’t prepared for that kind of setback.

It was about 16:00 (4:00pm) when she pulled the car into the parking lot. She had decided it was easier to drive herself to the airport using her own car, instead of calling for transportation. This would allow her to pack, then run a check of the house, meaning she could make sure she did have everything, but mainly it meant she wouldn’t have to struggle with her daughter’s child seat, which was going with them. She had arranged though, that someone would come tomorrow and pick the vehicle up, and sell it for her. This meant she wouldn’t have to deal with the headache of trying to deal with that problem. She also had arranged that two employers of the airport would meet her ,and help her from her car to the check in gate, this too was done to save her a headache. This time the headache of trying to balance four bags that weighed more then twice her weight when added together, a three year old, their carry on bags, etc.

Stepping out of the car, she moved to the trunk of the car, and unpacked the luggage, letting the two men take them and load them onto the luggage carts. Closing the trunk, she moved around to the back seat of the car, unlocking the backdoor, and reaching inside to remove her daughter, and the safety seat. It would have been easier to leave the seat behind, but unfortunately from what she heard, American law was strict about that, and she wasn’t about to test her luck the first day there. So it had to go with them. unloading it from the car, she lowered it to ground, and well that was it. Locking the car and hiding the keys, she moved back around to the passenger side her hand running over the hood of the car as she did so. this was it, from this point forward she and Angie were leaving their whole life behind.

Reaching out for Angie’s hand, she didn’t want to lose her. the girl’s first time ever flying, and well she was sure the girl would find the whole process just a little to fascinating. Slipping her hand into her mother’s, she wasn’t really sure what to think of this whole situation. She didn’t want to move, she liked it here, here was home. She didn’t fully understand why they had to move, but it sounded important to her mother, so she wouldn’t make a fuss about it. Moving besides her mother ,who followed the two men who took their bags, they moved into the airport, and eventually on the line they needed where her mom then dropped her hand to dig through her bag, pulling out two red books, and what appeared to be tickets. Tilting her head she looked up at her mom with a questioning look*

“mamma ciò che è ciò?
È appena i nostri passaporti. Abbiamo bisogno di loro per entrare America. Dobbiamo mostrare loro alla persona alla scrivania.
Oh. Posso farlo?
quando ci alziamo lí”

*happy with the response, she quieted down, at least for the moment. Standing quietly and amazingly patient for someone her age, she took in her surroundings, trying to figure out, and take everything in. This was a completely new experience for her, and she was quite fascinated by the whole thing. reaching the desk, her mother handed her the passport and boarding pass, which she held tightly. If they needed them to get into America, she couldn’t loose them. She didn’t need her mother to tell her that. Rain, didn’t feel like ‘arguing’ it wouldn’t hurt to let Angie give the guy her own passport. Moving up the desk as they were called, she lifted her daughter, so the girl can place her passport up at the desk, before handing over her own, and answering the questions, getting her bags checked, and tipping the men who helped her, she was all set to continue this journey.

The rest of the procedure, including, passport control/immigration, costumes, and security took a little over an hour, meaning she was done about 5:30 or so, giving her over an hour to get to the boarding gates, meaning thank god she didn’t have to rush. They were on terminal one, gate 8. Thankfully finding the gate wasn’t hard, and they got there, with plenty time to spare, which made sense. Entering the Boarding lounge, of their flight, she felt Angie tug on her, breaking free of her grip to move forward, pressing her hands to the glass window that was facing the planes.*

“Mamma! Sguardo! ... Andiamo essere su uno di loro?
Sì siamo, lei deve andare alla stanza da bagno prima?”

*she just shook her head, Rain just knew, the moment they got up in the air she would have to go. But oh well, dropping herself into a seat near her daughter, she spent the waiting time, watching her daughter watch the planes. She had a feeling the girl would find the big ‘metal flying machines’ fascinating. The girl has traveled plenty in her life, but her mother tended not to travel terribly far, and she probably never been outside the European Union, and that meant she tended to drive, less hassle, if they couldn’t drive they took a train. This was her first time on a plane, and she didn’t seem to fully grasp the idea that they would be flying until she saw one of the planes take off. the boarding gates closed at about 7:00, 30 min before take off, as was standard with most airports, sometimes they closed earlier. So at 6:45, she decided it was time to head onto the plane, so at around 6:20 she made Angie try to go the bathroom before finally they boarded, and at 7:25, exactly on time they took off.

This was a short flight, which was probably a good thing, break Angie slowly into the idea of flying, and only about two hours after take off they were landing in Germany where they had a over night cross over. This meant they had some time before the next flight, giving her enough time to make a phone call with out being rushed. At nearly 9pm, that would make it about 3 where Dean was. She kept the call short though, just long enough to tell him she landed in Germany and so far she was on schedule, and if everything kept up according to plan she be by him, at about this time tomorrow. Hanging up the phone, with that out of the way, it was good time for dinner. There had to be something to eat around the airport… she had decided she wasn’t about to go track down a hotel for the mere 12 hours she was in Germany, they could last the night in the airport itself.

They eventually found a place that sold food that her and Angie would eat, her and Angie split what the place called ‘Italian Pasta’, which wasn’t’ all that bad before she headed off to the terminal one, she wasn’t sure of the gate yet. And if all went according to plan, they would be taken off at 8:30. and if she didn’t want to travel with a cranky 3 year old, she needed the girl to get some sleep, which was far from an easy task. The girl was to excited, the new experience wound her up. but this also ended up working to Rain’s advantage, and all the excitement eventually knocked her out, even if it was later then her mother would have liked.

Unfortunately though, not everything did go as according to plan as she hoped, and she was woken up the next morning at 7:00 am, to a loud bang of thunder, and the sound of rain. A series of storms had moved in grounding the plane until further notice, great… she really didn’t want to be stranded in Germany. She just wanted this to be over, oh well might as well get some breakfast in Angie. The first place they found open was a McDonalds, which both passed off, eventually they found a cute little restaurant. That had a nice view of planes… now if only the plans weren’t grounded Angie would have loved this place. the thought of calling Dean Briefly crossed her mind, but when she figured out the time difference she came to the conclusion that wasn’t the best idea. He probably wouldn’t be happy though as the hours passed, eventually she caved, she rather wake him and have him mad, then worry him. And at 10am (4am Dean’s time) she finally called him, telling him she was grounded in Germany, and she would call him when she could.

Finally they started boarding the plane, and at 1:15 five hours, and twenty five min behind schedule, they finally took off and they were in the air. It was a relief, to not have to worry anymore, at least about this plane, she was already concerned about what the hell they were going to do when they reached New York… She should have remained worried about this flight. At about 8 and a half hours long, her feisty and energetic daughter should have been enough to worry about. The first plane had held her attention well, this one not so much, and only after an hour she started squirming, this was going to be a long trip.

On the bright side, the food had gained her attention for a short time, as did the entertainment TV they offered up. But that only lasted so long, and the entertainment Rain brought for her, also didn’t last long. But she remained in her seat, even if she was squirming a lot, and thank-god she couldn’t reach the seat in front of her, first class had enough leg room for an adult to squirm with out heating the seat in front of you. The seats though proved to be a game to her, and she kept messing with them, until she was scolded for it. eventually she curled into her mother’s lap, and slept, probably much to the relief of the people around her.

Finally they landed in New York, where they were moved to a later flight, only after she put up fuss, and made a scene. She WAS not going to let them keep her here over night. The plane took off at about 9:30 the only flight with room for them, which gave her time to call Dean again. now she was on the same time zone as him, which meant she didn’t have to worry. Dean was probably sick of hearing form her though, but this was it. she was almost done with this nightmare. She couldn’t wait to just get a real bed again, then and only after she catches up on sleep, would she absolutely love that shower, and to see her babies.

It was about 11:20 when they landed in Virginia, Dean had promised he had a car waiting for her, a rental car, so all he had to do was go through passport control, pick up her baggage, and then customs, and she was all set. At by midnight she was finally done with Airports, hopefully for a long time. and with help she got the bags to the airport, where she was directed to ‘her car’, which just happen to be a blue 612 Scaglietti. The car was a bit over the top, to just get her from the airport, but she was thankful for the thought, and for the Italian car.

It was raining when she landed, so with the guys help she loaded the car quickly, having strapped Angie’s Safety seat into place followed by the sleepy toddler, before her attention turned to the bags. And in not even 10 min, the car was packed, and she was ready to head off… finally.*

(The translating of the Italian… the translations aren’t the best I know, but oh well.

Mommy what’s that?
it's just our passports. We need them to get into America. We have to show them to the person at the desk.
Oh. Can I do it?
When we get up there

Mommy look! We get to be on one of them?
Yes we are, do you have to go to the bathroom first?)
