BASAHIN MO ITO CYBERKADA AT NANG MALIWANAGAN KA! OK?!! HINDI YUN TIPONG BURA KA NANG BURA NG HINDI MO PA NABABASA!!!

It's quite baffling why most, if not all, of the new program being launched by ABS-CBN seem to be outright copies of GMA-7 shows. For instance, ABS-CBN’s singing competition "Star in a Million" is obviously taken from GMA’s "Search for a Star," which was titled "Star for a Night" prior to its move to the Kapuso Network. Then there’s GMA’s first-ever reality-based "artista" search "Starstruck," which started its massive auditions in August and premiered on October 27.

Just a few days ago, ABS-CBN started openly announcing the launch of "Star Quest," which also auditioned young Filipinos who dream of becoming stars. Rumors have it that "Star Quest" has the exact same format as GMA’s "Starstruck." Moreover, the young star tapped to host "Star Quest" is no other than Luis "Lucky" Manzano, who was originally chosen by GMA to co-host "Starstruck" with Nancy Castiglione.

GMA’s newest teledrama "Twin Hearts," which was initially rediculed for having an English title amidst a local crop of soap operas bannering the titles of Tagalog songs, has again set the trend as ABS-CBN is said to be cooking up a new telerserye to be top-billed by John Lloyd Cruz and Bea Alonzo, entitled "Broken Vow." The same goes with GMA’s "Love 2 Love," the first twin-bill series on local TV. Its impressive launch bumped off rival "Tabing Ilog" in the ratings game. Rumors have it that ABS-CBN will soon come up with another twin-bill series entitled "My First Romance" to pit against GMA’s "Love 2 Love."

And now that GMA has imported an international star (Argentinian actor Segundo Cernadas) to star in its upcoming soap opera, ABS-CBN is said to be following suit. They are reportedly negotiating to have Barbie Xu ("Meteor Garden"’s Shan Cai) to star opposite Piolo Pascual or any of the F4 guys to be paired off with Claudine Barretto in a drama series.

The list of other GMA shows copied by ABS-CBN goes way back to the GMA programs "Spotlight" (imitated by ABS-CBN’s "Star Drama Presents"), "Wish Ko Lang" (the same format used by ABS-CBN’s "Willingly Yours") and "I-Witness (the basis for ABS-CBN’s "Correspondents"). The perennial questions remains: What happened to ABS-CBN’s think tank? Has it gone dry or is the said no. 1 network resorting to merely being the no. 1 copycat?

Gaining more devoted viewers is GMA-7’s innovative show, "Starstruck," the first-ever reality-based talent search on primetime TV with 14 young showbiz aspirants vying for a P1-M GMA management contract and P500,000 cash prize.

Aired daily and hosted by Dingdong Dantes and Nancy Castiglione, "Starstruck" premiered with video clips on the massive auditions held in various venues where teenagers aged 15-18 showcased their various talents. From hundreds of applicants, the number was trimmed down to 60, then to 30.

From this emerged the select 14 finalists of seven girls and seven boys who will face a battery of tests and challenges to get the nod of the viewers and the distinguished judges, Joyce Bernal, Ida Henares and Joey de Leon.

The show goes live every Friday, where the combined votes of viewers and the decision of the "Starstruck" jurors determine who among the finalists drops out of the game.

At the end of 13 weeks, the number will be down to two — one male and one female winner who will move on to become GMA’s newest stars.

The Starstruck Final 14 are composed of Alvin Aragon, Anton dela Paz, Christian Esteban, Cristine Reyes, Dion Joseph Ignacio, Jade Lopez, Jennylyn Mercado, Katrina Halili, Mark Angelo Herras, Nadine Samonte, Rainier Joseph Castillo, Sheena Yvette Halili, Tyron Perez, and Yasmien Kurdi. Viewers may cast their votes by texting Starstruck to 2364 (Globe/Touch Mobile) or 4627 (Smart/Talk ‘N Text) or by calling 1908-GMAStar (462-7827).

SIGURO NAMAN NALIWANAGAN KA NA ANO?!!! SUBUKAN MO LANG BURAHIN ITO!!!!
