Guess what? My wife bought Zire71 last summer, and I got Tungsten e last Friday. The main differences:

Zire71
-camera
-hotsync cradle

Tungsten e
-more memory (32 vs 16 on Zire71)
-better user interface with DateBook and Contacts
-Thinner (0.5 inch)
-usb hotsync

So I guess it goes down to how much you want that camera function. The resolution is not that great (1M pixels), so it's not some thing you'd like to use for Kodak moments.

I don't know how much MP3 kit cost, but doubt it justifies $100. My wife bought a 256 SD card and an earphone for about tha price.

My wife bought Zire71 because it was the best option for her LAST SUMMER when tungsten e was not on market. My wife seemed to like new user interface much better.

Last words, USB hotsync works fine (PC and mac). It is less convenient with Tungsten e in that sense because you need to connect usb cable AND power adaptor (when you need to recharge your palm).
