I've tried the starting-from-scratch route and it doesn't seem to work.
Here are more details:
-It's Windows 98
-Windows does seem to recognize the Palm & cradle through USB (the "new hardware" screen comes up when I HotSync fo rthe first time afetr reinstalling everything)
-The HotSync manager icon does pop up when I hit the HotSync button on the cradle, and it asks me which Profile I want to use (there's only one).
-I'm syncing to Palm desktop, not Outlook
-I believe the conduits are set up correctly
