Doug Hoerth had a lot of catchphrases, but most were "borrowed" from other sources. (Not that there's anything wrong with that!) "God willing and the Creek don't rise" came from North Georgia, and referred to the Creek Indians. Benjamin Hawkins wrote that in a reply letter to Thomas Jefferson asking Hawkins to return to Washington. (For the record, I just now looked that up.)

He also used a lot of lines from the old Dean Martin Show.
