I can remember when KDKA would preempt a soap (usually Search for Tomorrow and The Guiding Light) for a political convention or some other local breaking news, Bill Burns would sign off the Noon News with "Sorry ladies, no soaps today! And he would do it with a chuckle in his voice and a smirk on his face. That would make my Grandma so angry. She'd announce to the family "Bill Burns took my stories off today"
