Mrs. Miller was often a guest in Merv's audience, and sometimes he'd acknowledge that she was there. She was a typical (and real) "feisty little old lady".

Mike Douglas did start out in Cleveland but moved to Philadelphia. His show was taped five out of every six weeks. He'd do a strip of five shows every afternoon for a week, with the same guest hosts all week. Every Thursday night, he'd tape an extra show with a guest host who could only commit to five consecutive Thursday nights. That gave Mike a week off every six weeks. At least, that's what I remember from reading bits of his autobiography.
