I'm pretty sure that Ed's last appearance on KDKA was for the Party Line show on Halloween of 1971. He was desperately ill with lung cancer at that point and had been off the air for several weeks. But he was determined to make that show, and he was able to do it despite the huge challenge it was for him to just get to the station that night.
