If you have a tape deck, there are tutorial videos on YouTube.

But be aware, tape can be very fragile, as you said. If it's acetate tape, as opposed to mylar, it could curl and break easily. (Acetate tape will look translucent when you hold the reel up to light, mylar will block out the light)
