I was gone from KQV for almost 18 years when the final sign-off occurred. KQV in 2017 was hardly the KQV I knew in my decade there, but it still was a very professional operation that staffed stories that KDKA and WESA also would staff. You're right, most of the mourning is for the Top 40 era when ABC owned the station, but for a generation after that KQV was a news competitor, not just a repeater of news stories from a rewrite service as is the case for several talk stations in and around the city. May KQV's legacy -- all of it, going back nearly 100 years -- live on.
