Subject: Old Time Radio studios

The thread about visiting radio and TV station facilities got me thinking about the olden days when radio stations broadcast more than record spinning DJs. My first visit to the WJPA studios in Washington, PA was when they were in the basement of the George Washington Hotel. They had the usual turntable & mic studios for DJ, but they had some unused larger rooms that could have held a live band, at least a small one. And when I dropped in on Porky Chedwick when he was on WAMO-FM, he was working from a few tables on the floor in front of a big stage and a full auditorium of theater chairs. It would have been ideal for live scripted dramas or variety shows with a live studio audience.

Does anyone recall where other stations from the Golden Age of radio had their broadcast studios for live programming? Are any of them still around and used for something else? WAMO's old theater/studio at 1801 Boulevard of the Allies is now home of the Tamburitzans.
