ABC's early-1980s Talkradio format (on WTKN, formerly WWSW) was a national version of interviews plus call-ins. Rush Limbaugh started out taking lots of calls between doing bits of his own. Does he take calls at all anymore? The little I hear of him (NOT being a fan of his politics!) is just a longwinded rant. And national talkers are so expensive that I suspect they are expected to talk as much as they can during their time on the air.
