Subject: Elliot Abrams retires from Accuweather

His forecasts have been on Pittsburgh radio for decades.

Best wishes to him.

Coverage from All Access:

ELLIOT ABRAMS, whose forecasts were a staple of radio stations nationwide for decades, is retiring TODAY (3/1) from ACCUWEATHER after 51 years. He will leave his full-time duties but will continue in a part-time role with the company.

ABRAMS, whose final title at ACCUWEATHER was SVP and Chief Forecaster, was hired by company founder Dr. JOEL N. MYERS in 1967 as a part-time forecaster, the company's first employee; he became full-time in 1971 after completing his master's degree in meteorology. He and MYERS moved the operation into radio on NOVEMBER 22nd, 1971 with reports for WARM-A/SCRANTON, and television service was launched the next year. ABRAMS, known for spicing his forecasts with puns, received two awards from the AMERICAN METEROLOGICAL SOCIETY.
