Subject: Laughing gull, Red phalarope

Thanks to Karl Overman who called me just a while ago to tell me he had found a Laughing gull on Lotus street, just into Monroe county, MI, north of Toledo.

Take Suder north out of Toledo, across the state line to Lotus. Go left (west) on Lotus. Lotus follows Half-mile creek, to the north of the BFI landfill. The gulls will be obvious.

This is the TENTH gull species I have seen at this location in the last 5 years.

Also present were at least 2 Lesser Black-backed gulls. Some patience may be required as the gulls are moving between the creek and the dump.

As well, the Red phalarope remained in the Lake Erie waters just off of Consumer's Power plant on Erie Road, MOnroe County. Check the earlier post for directions.
