Subject: Warblers are here

I spent the morning (8/25/01) birding several areas in Wood County. To my utter amazement, I immediately came upn a mixed feeding flock of warblers and other passerines at Wintegarden Park and there were more migrants to be found in several other spots around the meadow. The warblers included 1 Blue-winged, many Chestnut-sided, 1 Black-throated Blue, 1 Blackpoll, 1 Black-and-White, 1 Am. Redstart, 1 Ovenbird, 2 Wilson's, 1 Canada and many, many more that went unidentified. Also there was a singing White-eyed vireo and 2 or 3 Great-crestaed flycatchers. Later along the Maumee River at Mary Jane Thurstin Park I added another Black-and-White, 1 Bay-breasted and 1 Yellow as well as many orioles and a large number of Nothern Flickers. I also spotted 2 Osprey at different points along the river. It was a pretty exciting morning. Possibly my best warbler day of the entire year.
