My daughter plays for her school's middle school softball team. They had a game yesterday against a pitcher who reminded me a lot of the Charlie Sheen character in "Major League" She threw with plenty of gas, but the ball was always headed lord-knows-where. Sure enough, my daughter took a fastball right in the head in her second at bat. I thought "damn, that looked nasty" and started wondering where the nearest ER was. She just dropped her bat and ran to first as if nothing had happened. I'm not sure the same would have happened if she were wearing a helmet from my baseball days.
