No stars even though he has a few MAC offers?

I've always said that I trust the opinions of the coaches more than the ratings services. We will see who is right.

No stars probably means they did not evaluate him. I note the lack of stars as a reminder that star systems, like internet listings of "offers," need to be taken with some skepticism. When they do rate a kid, I think they can be of some value to laypeople like me, but only up to the point of reviewing the kid's film and camp performances. Which I don't do.

I am willing to guess that if you ask McCorkle, or any Ivy head coach, they will tell you they do not rely on them at all and would probably express at least as much skepticism as I have.

Many offers are conditional, some very conditional. And some conditional offers are not even that. I am aware of two instances on this board where recruits described as having a P offer did not have such an offer. In at least one of the cases, the staff did not even submit the kid's name to Admissions because he wasn't remotely within the admissible ballpark, yet was listed somewhere as having been offered. Of course, many offers are true offers, but I think it is difficult to tell which ones they are.

I try to record the stars and offers I find, but with the aforementioned understandings.

Tweets offers: Cornell, Columbia, Richmond, Robert Morris, Army, Navy, Villanova, New Hampshire, Lehigh, Stony Brook, Towson, Bryant, Lafayette, Marshall.

I was startled to see Aurich turn up in his twitter feed before realizing it was announcing his visit to H. Also visited Penn, JMU, I think Duke. How these guys manage it all, I don't know. The recruiting calls/texts/emails/visits plus recruiting services and the like contacting you without limitation -- how did you like your visit to X, where you going next, what did you think about that etc.

I was going to check the roster, but the abysmally organized PU Athletic Department website - which must be in the running for most NON-user friendly college sports site ever devised - does not even have a visible link to the football team (or to any other team not featured in a column on the front page).

Really disappointing.

They have set up the site so that only a few lines of the page display on the screen (at least on mine) at any one time - half the page is taken up with "overlays", that prevent you from even seeing the entire pictures they post and require sigificant scrolling to see what is on the page. To remove or block the "overlays", you apply a downloadable browser extension (mine is Chrome) that removes/hides the overlay. BTW this tool can be used on other websites that use such overlays that obscure the page.

While such an extension allows you to view more than a few lines at one time, it also hides the upper right menu (which, of course, has no label in the first place). That is what happened here.

Alternatively, you can zoom out on the screen to reduce the display, but this both makes it harder to read (small font) and also requires re-adjusting the zoom every time you visit the page.

If I were designing a site, I would make it easier to use, not harder, and I would test it with the desired audiences.

I have to be brief lest I disgruntle Mrs. B on our vacation.

The 2024 roster is on the website. Can now note these returning 5th years: Delgarbino, Sanger, Feiganspan, Hilliard. All valuable returnees. Carr is not on the roster leaving us with 2 experienced RBs. Look for Clark as most likely to step up maybe into the rotation there. We do have a running back frosh I don’t think we had noted in Honda (or did we?). One or two others we missed, possibly including a genuine walk on, plus a couple recruited by other P teams that want to play football. I leave to others cross checking the listed frosh against our list to determine any slippages.

Also, I believe, after seeing Jerry Price refer to a colleague on paternity leave, that said Jerry’s colleague is the one covering football.

O and D recruits now posted, specialists coming today.

Always exciting to see the newest Tigers, it will be interesting to see who emerges over the next four years.

Looking at the 2024 roster, the depth chart will be dominated by seniors and juniors at most positions, but RB and OL are exceptions. The starters have a lot of experience but underclassmen will play a big role in those position groups this season. The 3 frosh RBs in particular may have an opportunity for playing time.

QB will also be wide open. Blaine McAlister is the sole senior and last year junior Blaine Hipa appeared in several games in a limited role. Sophomore West Smith is a big QB who was a top recruit but did not see the field as a first year.

The guy who covers football for the athletic communications office has been on paternity leave for a while. This is likely why no list of incoming frosh is on the website. I think he returns shortly; we’ll know when the first football story appears on the website. Aside from the personal loss to family and friends, which of course is the paramount loss, the late, great Jay Greenberg’s death has really decreased the team’s coverage. He was a great writer and did a great job as a paid provider of coverage. Craig Sachson, formerly the communications office football staffer back in the day, has done some pieces to fill in part of the void. But Jay used to do 3 pieces a week during the season and two a week in the off season.

Jay was outstanding. (Daughter(s?) went to Princeton and somehow Surace and he crossed paths. Bob contracted with him with PFA money. Took a brief hiatus when the Flyers hired him to do their 50th anniversary book. The athletic department communications staff — who each handle several sports — are excellent. But can’t devote single attention to any one sport.

An example of why I don’t count someone on the roster until they show up for pre-season practice. Even the roster they put out a few weeks ago isn’t final, to me, until then.

Stanford was already one of his many P4 offers when he committed to Princeton in June. Maybe the allure of going to school on the Pacific coast while competing in the ACC just proved too much?

The flow of recruits in and out of their “commitments” is a regular occurrence in the P4 and has long been a feature of Ivy recruiting, especially for the “highly touted” blue chippers.
