That Harvard slide is silly, because it's all about "The Game" (Yale-Harvard). In 2023, when "The Game" was played at Yale, attendance was 51,127 (per the Yale Athletic Department website). In 2024, when it was held at the much smaller Harvard Stadium, attendance was 27,105 (same source). Per the Harvard Athletic Department website, attendance for the two other Ivy League games played at Harvard in 2024 (Columbia and Princeton) was 7,011 and 12,244. So, swapping the Yale game for another at-home Ivy game would probably have reduced Harvard's total by around 20,000. Similarly, if The Game had been at Yale, the Yale total would have risen by as much as 40,000 and Yale might have been at the top of that table instead of Harvard.

OldBlue - you raised an excellent point that these attendance figures can change a lot from year to year, depending on location of key rivalry games.

Thus, I looked carefully at 2023 vs 2024 schedules and found some interesting discoveries:

a) Yale did lead the conference in average per game attendance in 2023 at 11,581 per game
b) Harvard was a close second at 11,563 per game. The Crimson ave per game attendance was slightly higher in '23 vs '24 despite not playing H-Y at home
c) Cornell's top draw in '23 was Colgate at 12,525 which was nearly equal to their COMBINED draw for their three Ivy games (Princeton, Columbia and Brown)
d) Attendance is another reason that the Dartmouth coaches should be recognized for doing a remarkable job. The Big Green won Ivy titles in '23 and '24 despite not leading the league in highest ranked recruits and finishing last in attendance by a good margin both years. Dartmouth averaged only 3,153 in per game attendance in '23 and 4,272 in '24.

In case it is of interest, the ave per game attendance by school in '23 was 11,581 for Yale, 11,565 for Harvard, 5,924 for Penn, 5,882 for Princeton, 5,509 for Cornell, 4,366 for Columbia, 3,766 for Brown, and 3,153 for Dartmouth.

Clearly coaching can still make a big difference in the Ancient Eight plus our league remains fairly unpredictable. Despite the downward attendance trends, the Ivy League still is a lot of fun to follow.
