In reply to: Old Lion 's message, "Re: Columbia Wins vs Penn to Open Ivy Baseball Championship" on 21:27:20 05/16/25 Fri

seems weird -- the Yale poster who found us "rude" for some reason - what must that Eli have thought when the 4th seed Harvard ousted the home team in the tournie? I wonder...

I was worried about facing Penn and I assumed we would meet up with Yale again... but things have shifted like a crafty double steal play! Now we are in the catbird seat (I think some old time baseball pundit said that) - so to speak.

wonder if pitcher Andy Leon can take another year ?

James Thurber's short story, The Catbird Seat, was published in 1942. Red Barber - Cincinnati Reds, Brooklyn Dodgers and New York Yankees radio and television announcer - popularized the words; and published an autobiography of his own in 1968: Rhubarb In The Catbird Seat.

I'm sorely undeserving of your praise, i.g. Son of the South, Red Barber was my most favorite announcer when I was a Brooklyn boy, so many years ago; and you may know that he attended University of Florida - studied education and initiated his broadcasting career working for the college radio station in Gainesville; till, one day, he got a call from the Reds asking him to come out to Cincinnati and join their team.

Was Harvard's starting pitching in the game that ended Yale's season really named Brian Dowling? Unreal.
