Yale open women have been having a great year, including a varsity win at Princeton, Lori Dauphiny’s fifth loss to an Ivy crew in a match race in her 28 years (that is NOT a typo).

This apparently did not go down well. At the Ivies today, Tigers powered through the middle thousand to take Eli by almost four seconds. Yale won second varsity and fours. Both will go on to look good at NCAAs. Eighth straight Tiger Ivy championship.

Not unexpectedly, big Harvard men’s year is building at the Eastern Sprints. Going into the afternoon’s finals, Crimson has the treasured Lane 1 in a big preponderance of races, heavies and lights.

Unprecedented. 17 of 33 Ivy titles. A tribute to coaches and athletes, and administrators who kept us up on the facility front. And despite the usual ups and downs dealing with one half of heartbreak hotel.

You notice I didn’t say anything about it, since the points thing at the women’s Ivies always gets weird, and has changed at least once over the years. I suspect Eli may be ahead on a 2-1-1 finish vs Tigers 1-2-3, BUT there’s still the issue of the 1V winner being the “individual” champ. Since that’s the case in Women’s lights and men’s heavies and lights, it’s a mess.

Oarheads are welcome to explain, slowly….

Ok, Either just under or just over half of Ivy titles this academic year. The rest of my post stands. I clearly expect this to be the high point. With our transfer policy and NIL, we will likely struggle to make double digits very soon.

Isn’t the title determined by total
Points not the 1v result?

Just watched the replay on ESPN+ and FWIW the announcers and screen graphics said that the 1V8 winner is considered to be the Ivy champ.

Impressive race for the Tigers avenging their dual meet loss to Yale in dominant fashion.

Having absorbed the tortuously-worded looooong releases from both Princeton and Yale, the following is the definitive case

Princeton is the Ivy League Champ by virtue of the 1V winner being determinant. (So Bengal’s answer is 17, an astonishing feat considering some of those Tiger teams that finished second).

Yale gets the automatic NCAA bid by virtue of the 2-1-1 finish of the 1V-2V-4 crews, 45 points to 44. What constututes a point still seems mysterious. Princeton will easily be one of the 13 at-larges.

There are OTHER points across all the entrants. You don’t want to know. Really.

Harvard eveywhere all the time. They win first, second and third heavies AND lights. A fine Dartmouth heavy eight ends up lonely in second place as the onslaught covers them.

This used to be happen frequently, but not since 2013.

All but the 2 Cs in women’s open rowing NCAAs. Great showing by the League.

If the regime extends the ban on foreign students to other universities, not just Harvard's V 8 will be affected. U Dub and Cal Berkley sponsor lots of furriners to win their titles.

But hey, Bill "3rd boat" Ackman is probably pleased.

I think all of our schools have athletes from abroad across a range of sports.

Wonder if the international students have to return immediately, thereby disrupting line-ups for IRA racing?

Federal judge has already enjoined the attempt. Less than 48 hours.

But will they return next year, after all this nonsense?

Given current events, student athletes could be excused for not wanting to rely on an injunction for career decisions.
