Thanks. All good thoughts. The recruiting cycle concern is good to mention. In that connection I wonder if any Penn commits bolt, a risk that might increase the longer the vacancy exists. But as you say the brand is fairly strong and any hit in this regard might be manageable. It was my impression decades ago that a new P coach would get a little more cooperation from Admissions than otherwise in his first recruiting class so that could be a mitigating factor for a new coach here if that is a thing at Penn, although I wouldn’t know.

Agreed you can misfire in hiring from any of the categories of potential HCs, but I would still think Penn has a very good chance of making a good hire. They have hired a search firm to assist. I am not sure P ADs have ever done that. They have put together their own advisory groups for some searches,
