247 also lists Kansas, Illinois and Colorado State in addition to Cal as offers. In past years we have seen recruits of this caliber fall off the radar when Stanford or PWO at a bigger time football factory comes to the party. But for now it is great that he wants to be a Tiger in 15 months!

He will enter P as a freshman. It appears he enrolled in college in January, in the latter half of his senior year in high school. Entered the portal 3 months later, committed to us on May 29. The NCAA may consider him a transfer, but, while I may be mistaken, I believe he will enroll as a first semester frosh. P has taken a few transfers like Stenstrom and that superstar pole vaulter, which I thought might herald a trend. But subsequent conversations with a bunch of head coaches and a non responsive reply from Eisgruber makes me believe they will be extremely rare to nonexistent going forward. I hope I am wrong. One problem is in accepting transfer credits; P could not have taken, for example, a consequential varsity athlete transfer who enrolled at another Ivy. Those rules apparently vary among the Ivies.

Princeton’s current transfer policy, agressively pursued by the Admission office, focuses on veterans and junior college transfers, overwhelmingly first generation college students, a good proportion having board scores well above their prospective classmates. The word “athlete” has never been mentioned to my knowledge.

This case involves someone applying late as a freshman, which happens from time to time under peculiar circumstances (i.e. it’s weird).

That is a strange one. It appears he entered the portal in April, was admitted in May, and is scheduled to enter Princeton this fall with the class of 2029.

Oregon, Tennessee, and FSU were among his other offers, could be his spring ball experience at Utah was not positive.

As with the blue chip WR above, this rollercoaster ride may or may not stop at FitzRandolph Gate …

Wow, 21 recruits as of early July. I wonder if Princeton and other Ivies will over-recruit in anticipation of attrition?

I don't know, but I doubt it. If there turns out to be less attrition than they anticipate they will have skewed future recruiting, to the extent the 108/4 is a real thing. I am guessing they just keep tabs on people they passed on initially and go back to them if a decommit does occur; and some Ivies are more likely to fill a gap with a transfer than others I would guess.

Bear in mind, too, that commits we fans list here off of websites and twitter might well be on another team's list of recruits who made known their desire to play football and the latter coaches had a positive reaction. Not every one on our lists may actually be tabbed a football recruit for the 108/4 purposes.

The complexity of roster management for Coach Surace and his brethren has gone up exponentially. In addition to backfilling decommits, they need to continually re-recruit their current players. The earlier filling in of the 2030 class may reflect that there is no downside to locking in a landing place while these recruits continue to shop for a better offer.

Head Coaches, especially so far, in basketball and football in the Ivies are functioning partly as General Managers as well as coaches. A relatively new development generated by NIL and the portal.

Bengal - I replied in another thread that 247 lists Wyatt Becker as a 2025 commit, ON3 does as well. Where have you seen him listed as a 2026 recruit?

Those sites also mention offers from Oregon, Georgia, TAMU, Cal, Miami, Penn State and other big-time programs that we rarely see for Ivy recruits.

Are you telling me that the boys in New Jersey have recruited a quarterback prospect away from Oregon, Georgia, Miami, Penn State and Utah?

What??

Wouldn't that make him the highest rated Ivy quarterback recruit since the kid who turned down Alabama, but then couldn't crack the Princeton starting line-up? I believe that Brevin White got a late offer from Nick Saban, which to me sounds like a "class fill-in" offer. That carries less weight than getting early offers from Kirby Smart, James Franklin and Kyle Whittingham. The latter are *real* offers.

If this guy actually shows up on campus and puts on an orange helmet, then congratulations to Coach Surace and his recruiting staff.

Wow.
