The Learfield Cup gives points for qualifying/advancing/winning NCAA championship events. Which sounds great. But when you consider that some schools have many more teams than others - and get the same "points" for winning fencing, women's rowing and skiing championships (which few schools compete for) as they do for basketball, baseball, softball and track (which many schools compete for), then you see the joke that the rankings really are. Furthermore, schools are capped at the number of qualifying teams that can score points.

Mrs. Go Green got her graduate degree from MIT.

Some time ago, I asked if she had any desire to explore MIT as an option for our daughters.

Mrs. Go Green's response was clear and adamant-- "Oh, HELL no!"

Then again, I do think that today's MIT may be different from that of a generation of two ago...
