In reply to: joiseyfan 's message, "Rowing championships" on 17:22:38 05/17/26 Sun

According to our website, P MLR won the Ivy title. This is apparently awarded on a total points basis, even if losing the 1st Varsity race. But apparently you do get a Cup or Medal or something for winning individual races, at least in Women’s open rowing. They edged Y by a point. I find it the “scoring” in rowing confusing so I am happy to be corrected.

Is it that the winner of the 1st V race goes to the NCAAs?

Winner of first varsity race is the nominal Ivy League champion in each case.

Women’s multi-race points winner gets the Ivy auto invite to the NCAAs. Other Ivies are always invited though. Princeton did both this year.

First varsity heavy and light finals winners at Sprints are Ivy champs. Points winners across all races get fancy cups and are “team champions”. Harvard won the two races today, Princeton won both points titles. I would bet all of them qualify for IRAs.

Tiger open women also won the points trophy as well as the V8 race and the LW women won the V8 at its Eastern Sprints regatta. Congrats to the Harvard men for their HW and LW V8 victories, the depth of Princeton’s performance across all of its rowing teams has been impressive this season.

Thanks, Bennie. “Clearing up” is certainly a gracious way to phrase it…
