In reply to: joiseyfan 's message, "NCAA men’s lax quarterfinals" on 14:30:48 05/17/26 Sun

UVA has just announced that it is parting ways with its longstanding (and former Brown coach) Lars Tiffany. https://virginiasports.com/news/2026/05/18/virginia-announces-leadership-change-for-mens-lacrosse

This could have several impacts on the Ivy League. First, his former offensive coordinator at UVA and current HC at Dartmouth, Sean Kirwan, may be seen as a possible successor. Kirwan was highly regarded at UVA and many fans think that he, rather than Tiffany, was more responsible for UVA's success during his tenure there (of course UVA fans tend to be somewhat entitled about their lacrosse legacy).

Second, and expecially given his success at Brown, he becomes an obvious potential replacement for any IL team thinking about a coaching change. As far as I know, no team is actively looking and the teams that finished at the bottom just recently hired new coaches who are so far showing improvement, albeit over very short tenures. But you never know.

That’ll spiff up the conversations at the Final Four.

BTW the championship weekend at an on-campus location in this day and age is a terrible idea.

The championship weekend at an on-campus location two hours away from any major population center is a terrible idea.

Scott Stadium capacity is 60,000+ and Foxboro attendance last year was about 32,000. Some passionate fanbases will be there.

We will see.
