I am somewhat puzzled by people that constantly mention the militia part of the 2nd amend. No where in the 2nd amend does it state a requirement to be in a militia to have a gun. It simply states a well regulated militia, and the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.

The gun haters want to use the well regulated militia part to imply people must be in a militia to have arms. When you ask the gun haters where does the 2nd amend or any document state a person must be in a militia to have arms the gun haters cannot answer it.

The 2nd amend is a very simple right. The people that want to ban the right to have guns want to make it appear to be a very complicated right. There is only twenty-seven words in the 2nd amend. None of these words are in the 2nd amend, requirement, ban, assault weapon, sniper gun, military style weapons, or high powered rifles. The 2nd amend simply states the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed! Sure it also mention a well regulated militia. But it does not state you must be in a militia to bear arms!
