Perhaps the other Don Fedderson shows of that time are examples-- "Family Affair" and "To Rome with Love." I think FA gets blasted unjustly because of the kids being "too good; too cute" and everything too orderly. But that show did touch on some important social issues, but like MTS was subtle and melodramtatic and never made harmful behavior the comical focus. Most notable, of course, was the issue of children losing their parents and having their relatives treat them as pawns until their bachelor uncle they didn't even know took them all in, even though it greatly disrupted his lifestyle. "To Rome with Love" *might* be another example, although I don't remember watching but a few of the eps. They did do some crossover eps with MTS, which is an indication that it was a similar type of comedy.
