It's a lot easier to fix steel. If you've got big batteries on board you could probably stick weld a fix with jumper cables just about anywhere.

Macha has a steel mast. I'd recommend at least looking at it on any boat over a certain tonnage. The tripod is an interesting concept and I'd have to pencil it out.

Where do the struts land on the tri?
