The bottom line is who gives a fuck what the Dashews think about anything related to sailing. I've read their shit over the years and none of it ever made any sense to me, or anyone else not in that exclusive group of wealthy yachties.On the other hand George Buehler has run some realistic numbers on power and sail boats that the "average" worker might be able to afford. His numbers indicate a inexpensively built plywood power boat (Diesel Ducks are his conception) that travels at sail boat speeds using a small sail boat sized engine is cheaper to run than an auxillary powered sail boat. Logically enough it does not require sails or rigging. On the other hand, Buehler sailed his original Hagar engineless and it it cost him next to nothing to maintain. Once again, Buehler, not the Dashews is the guy who knows what it is to actually live on a working man's wages. Fuck the Dashews and all their ilk!
