Thanks, that's really helpful. One question regarding the mounting of oars on the jibsheet winches - does that mean you can't really use arm power and your forsail at the same time? or is that where the sculling comes in? we don't have marine exchange stores here in the UK as far as I know. But we do have something called boat jumbles - where people turn up and sell all their old boat bits they don't want. There are also some old 10ft RNLI oars for sale. May investigate these too.
