I second that as I do the same, but somehow I see all these navigational instruments and electonics as just another crutch (maybe I'm too simple ;-). I accept the necessity of having and using all these external of me, brakeable, sinkable, and otherwise fallible devices, but perhaps this is only so because I lack the 'real skill' - The Alberto Torroba kind of skill - It might not have a gps accuracy, but it doesn't need batteries and it's always with you. This internal skill can't develop as long as you use external devices. Isnt' it agreed here that the use of engine is a crutch and detrimental to becoming a real (intuitive) sailor. Isn't it the same with navigation? I guess no one knows..No one does it.
