Subject: Rudder strength/thickness/materials

Hey all,

I've finally getting around to replacing my very waterlogged, heavily electrolyzed mild steel and plywood/glass rudder. I'm planning to build a fairly traditional rudder (i.e. wood & bronze), and I'm having a hard time finding reference material for strengths and thickness any suggestions, either for the reference material or the construction specs.

The rudder is roughly 4 feet tall and 3 deep and trapezoidal, and the boat weighs 7 tons.
