The Dolphin has a cheap slip in MDR too... the bonus of loosing the 4' The triton sounds like a solid boat - it has been owned by the same guy for 25 years and sailed frequently. He is just too old to make it worth keeping now, but the basic materials of hull rig and sails are ready to go condition. I would also feel better about going longdistance in a longer boat with a real keel, it will carry more stores and my other 1/2 will prefer the extra space...and she can be put to action on the interior decor...

I will try to see both this weekend before deciding either way. It probably depends on how much each is willing to move down on price, and whether I can find a slip in MDR cheap enough to make the triton less than frighteningly expensive to keep. Then again I can sell my car below market and still have enough to cover 2-3 years slip. The savings on insurance, fuel, and servicing can go to pay for $300-$400 fixing up/upgrades a month!

The Wharrams are on my "potential future build" list right up there with Benford Dories (yeah - I go with extremes). I haven't come across ANY down here in SoCal - for sale or not (yet..)

If I had the space, funds and time I would love to build a tiki 38... or a "Child of the Sea" like Glen Tieman's....actually Glen built pretty close but I only found out about it as he left so never got to see it in person. The photos of the crabclaw rig look cool though.
